Ali Shreve, DVM

My first career was as an air traffic controller at Austin Straubel Airport in Green Bay, WI.  I enjoyed the mental challenge of the job immensely, but it didn’t provide any emotional fulfillment.  I began volunteering at Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary and subsequently obtained an individual rehabilitator’s permit.  It filled me up but I wanted to do more, so decided to pursue a new career in veterinary medicine.

I graduated from UW School of Veterinary Medicine in 2003 and did a year-long internship in Wildlife Conservation and Rehab Medicine at the Wildlife Center of Virginia in Waynesboro, VA.  From there I moved to Ft. Lauderdale, FL and worked at the Wildlife Care Center (now the South Florida Wildlife Center) for 2 years.  A move to the Tampa area necessitated a change to small animal medicine.  For 2 years I worked for VCA, then joined the ranks of emergency medicine for more than 8 years with BluePearl.

In late 2016 I felt the need to return home to my family in WI. Serendipity has allowed me to come full circle and once again connect with Dr. June (and Mary)!  My first veterinary assistant job while in vet school was at the feline practice at which June was employed.  Her style of medicine and gentle demeanor made such an impression that I chose to honor her at my DVM graduation.  I am so excited to finish out my career with people who feel like family.

With regard to my own companions, I have an ever-changing number (always too many).  I am currently an all-feline household, but in the past have also had dogs, rabbits, a bird, and a tortoise.
